New House Pics

Here is a 3/4 view picture of the house I put an offer on which was accepted. It has a fair size yard and the building in the back would make a great clay studio. Posted by Picasa

Here is a front view of the house. It is a cute house with a nice location. I like it and so do the kids. Posted by Picasa

Downloaded Skype!!!

Well I downloaded Skype.....see how it works whenever Gary and or Dennis is online. The kids are fine....jamie had his last regular baseball game this evening. He was voted to the all-star team so he plays a final 'all-star' game Monday eve....he is a good lil baseball player. Andrew is doing well and played his first year of T-ball.....he stuck with it....and did pretty well....typical 1st year t-ball player...more interested in the dirt and weeds and flowers than being involved in the game. He liked the uniform and liked to bat and also liked the fact the team got icee's at the end of the game. School is going well and going by quickly. I am looking for a house to buy....can't fathom living in this little wee house one more winter. But have not found anything yet. So the search continues.....good thing I have a patient real estate agent. He is a nice guy, part time realtor and full-time Ag teacher at MSC. Well that is about all that is new around this neck of the woods.

Article about Inaugeral Great Plains Juried Art show

Hi there here is a link to the SOSU newspaper article about the Inaugeral Great Plains Juried Art Show that took place at the SOSU VPAC gallery. http://www.sosu.edu/departments/art/sosu_news_article.htm
and a link to a page I did showing the award winners of the exhibit:
http://www.sosu.edu/departments/art/great_plains_05.htm
Just thought inquiring minds would like to know.
Other than that all is going well here with myself and the kids. Jamie is in 'Gifted and Talented' group in Grade 3...but hey...I wouldn't expect any less....lol. He is a bright boy, but more importantly he is a very sweet, kind and loving individual. Andrew is learning to write and his penmanship is very neat. Andrew just celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday.....gosh time flies. Jamie will be 9 on April 8th. where does the time go...hmmm. They both are in soccer and baseball this spring. That should be fun trying to keep up with the scheduling this spring on Saturdays.
Well take care. Peace and love to all.

School Trip to Baltimore

I got back from Baltimore late last evening, it was a very good clay art convention. My students and I learned much from the lectures, workshops, presentations and exhibitions. Baltimore, especially the Inner Harbour aream was nice to visit and walk around. A very scenic place. But I think I need another break to recuperate from this trip...lol. Well i guess i should keep unpacking and get ready for school tomorrow.

Spring Break has arrived!

Hi Ya'll.....lookee that 2 blogs in a month....I think I am setting a new record for myself. I will be heading to Baltimore this week. Taking a group of 7 art students to the National Ceramics Conference (NCECA). It should be a blast, this is the 3rd conference I have been to in the past 10 years. They always have numerous workshops and interesting lectures and presentations. I will relate the highlights when I get back. We fly out Tues from DFW and get back next Saturday evening.
Jamie and Andrew are doing well as per usual and all else is fine. From what I have read it sounds like all is well with everyone out in blogland.

One of these days I will remember to change the title to my blogs....lol.

I guess I just did.

Portrait of the Artist as a Middle-aged Man

Hello...here i am again with what appears to be a monthly blog update....lol. I thought I was going to blog more often, but apparently that was untrue...oh well.
Well let's see the semester is going along well....and seems to be flying by. I am continually trying to learn new graphics programs such as Illutrator, Flash and Indesign etc....as I will be teaching a new graphic design course next fall...boy o joy.
I entered 3 of my digital photography prints in an art show at Grayson college in Denison, Texas and found out the other day that I sold one. Woohooo!! We also have on display the art depts first Great Plains Juried Art Show. We have gotten a number of entries from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, North Dakota and a few other states. I entered 3 clay works and received a Honorable Mention from the judge. You can see the winning artworks at www.sosu.edu/departments/art
Let's see.....Jamie and Andrew are doing well. Jamie is going through a growth spurt in conjunction with an eating spurt. He is only about a foot shorter than his Mom....not that she is overly tall.....but he is only 8....lol. He is going to be a tall one. He seems to love 3rd grade or at least he does not complain about school. He is on the Honor Roll at school. Atta boy!! Andrew is still as cute and sweet as ever and also likes school. But what is there not to like at the Kindergarten level. Hey ...no homework..can't beat that...lol.
As far as my love life goes....just casually dating periodically but nothing serious or any prospect of a long term relationship in the forseeable future. But, I am kinda used to this bachelor life....5 years single...woohoo!!.
Well I better not write too much or it will be another month till I blog again. Take care all.

Portrait of the Artist as a Middle-aged Man

Hi there.....long time, no blog...I will try to get back on the blog-wagon. A belated Happy New Year to everyone. I talked to Mom this weekend and was saddened to hear that Alvina passed away. She sounds like she is handling it well.

Jamie and Andrew had a good Christmas and are doing well. They were back in school last week. I started back last week too....but no classes....just preparation time. Start classes next week......woooohoooo. Got a newer computer in my office....another Dell....Gary would be proud...lol. It is about 3 gig speed...so quite a bit quicker than my old one...and a 21" monitor...unfortunately not a flat screen but frigging huge CRT....takes up most of my desk....oh well...it is an upgrade and should be happy with it. The bigger screen is great for Photoshop work....alot more real estate, as the computer geeks call it...lol.

Well I should get to bed....and blog again soon.

Back to School

Hi all........well it is back to school we all go. Andrew in K, Jamie in 3rd and Me....well back teaching at SOSU It should be a fun year for all. The art department has joined forces with the music department and has become the Department of Fine Arts...it is a natural fit which will make both of our departments stronger and for us to be less likely to be the target of a terminal budget cut. Speaking of budget cuts, this year SOSU got a small increase in budget, which afforded the university to reinstate Benefits for yearly contract people, such as myself. SO woohoo....I now have university paid benefits. The next step is to make me permanent fixture here and our new chair mentioned to me that issue will go to the Board of Regents in October....so fingers crossed I will be granted permanent status. Really a mere formality....but nice to have all the same.

I am teaching a Digital Photography course this semester. Which I am looking forward to the challenge of that. By the way, I am always looking for fine examples of Digital photos to present in my class and considering I have quite a few 'Photo Nut' relatives, such as Dennis, Gary and Margot, just to name a few....please send me your Fabulous/Artistic shots and I will incorporate them into my powerpoint presentations. So please send them to school address: jousey@sosu.edu

Well I have J and A here today....and they are itching to go out and do something....later......

Good Time had in the 'Peg

Just a quick blog to say that Jamie, Andrew and I all had a very good time in Winnipeg, especially because of Dennis and Cathi's hospitality. They kept us going all the time we were there; from the Zoo to the Aviation Museum to Gimli to Goldeye Baseball and from dinner to dinner to dinner.....We ate real goooood!! And it was great to visit with Nana on a regular basis. Very good for Jamie and Andrew to visit with their Nana and Uncle and Aunt. Thanks again for your gracious hospitality Dennis and Cathi.
